Mrs. Holly's Classroom Policies and Procedures
Entering the Classroom:
1. Line up outside the door, quietly.
2. Wait for a signal from the teacher to enter the room
3. Enter room quietly
4. Go directly to your seat
Morning Procedure
1. Get out your agenda out
2. Get out your writing utensils (please see procedures for sharpening pencils)
3. Get out your completed assignments and place them on the right hand corner of your desk.
4. Hang your backpack on your chair or place under your desk
. Immediately begin working on your bell work
5.Place any notes that need immediate attention in the red “in-box” on the teacher’s table.
The Student Center: located in the Northwest corner of the room. Students will find additional supplies, sharpened pencils, tape dispensers and staplers, and bins where homework and assignments are to be turned in. In addition, a calendar is posted above to indicate important dates coming up, and the lunch menu. Please follow the procedures on how to use The Student Center...
Sharpening Pencil:
1. Please have your own pencil sharpener
2. You may trade your dull pencil by placing it into the “deposit” pencil can at the Student Center. You may then take a pencil from the “withdrawal” pencil can.
3. Pencils in the “deposit” can will be sharpened at the end of the day by the “Pencil Sharpener”
Getting Supplies:
1. In the back of the classroom is the “Student Center” where you can find all the supplies you will need.
2. You may get supplies during the first five minutes of class ONLY (unless otherwise specified by the teacher)
3. Only one student at a time may be out of their seat to get supplies
4. Do not stop to chat with another classmate, or distract someone else.
Getting to Work Immediately:
1. When given an assignment, you need to begin work immediately.
2. If you do not understand completely, raise your hand for assistance.
3. Continue working until you receive help.
4. If working in a group situation, you need to ask two people for help before you ask me.
Attention Signal:
1. When the teacher rings the bell, stop what you are doing.
2. Turn and quietly face the teacher for instruction.
Tardy:
1. If you are late for school, report to the office for your late slip.
2. Walk into the classroom quietly.
3. Place your late slip in the red in-box on the teacher’s table.
Using the Bathroom:
1. You will ask for permission to use the bathroom by raising two fingers. Those who do not use this signal will not be allowed to use the bathroom.
2. If it is an appropriate time to go, the teacher will signal you to go.
3. You will fill out the “Bathroom Sign In/out” sheet on the clipboard by the door.
4. Only one student will be allowed out of the room at a time.
5. Those who abuse bathroom privileges will not be allowed to go.
Getting a Drink of Water:
1. You may bring a water bottle to class.
2. You are expected to fill water bottles or get a drink during normal break times.
Daily Assignment Schedule:
1. The daily classroom assignment schedule is posted in the classroom. Any assignments in the weeks before will be listed in the “Master Agenda.”
2. You are expected to record your assignments everyday in your agenda.
3. If you miss an assignment you are responsible for checking the assignment wall or “Master Agenda” and picking up the missed work in the “Extra Papers” box.
Assignments:
1. You are expected to produce your best possible effort on assignments.
2. Any assignment that is sloppy or is unreadable will not be accepted and will be considered late.
3. All assignments will be collected by the teacher the next day.
Going to the Nurse:
1. Barfing, blood, and bones sticking out will get you to the nurse.
2. Do not ask to go to the nurse unless you are too ill to concentrate.
Turning in assignments:
1. All assignments are due the next day.
2. Before you begin your morning bell work, place your completed assignment on the right corner of your desk.
3. Teacher will come to your desk to collect your homework.
Lining Up:
1. Teacher will call out numbers of students to line up, for example, “Numbers 1-12, please line up at the door.”
2. Students will line up quietly at the door. Hands to sides and voices silent.
3. When the class is lined up appropriately, teacher will give direction to move out to the hallway.
Hallway Procedures:
1. Students will remain in their lines and walk quietly on the right side of the hallway.
2. Students are to stop at each corridor and wait for the teacher to direct them to move forward.
3. Students will walk through the hall without rubbing up against the wall or bulletin boards.
4. Once at the stairs, students will not proceed down until the teacher’s direction.
If you are done with work early:
1. Put your work in your folder
2. Take a book out of your backpack that you brought from home /or/
3. You may borrow a book from the classroom library.
4. Please read quietly.
When your parents will hear from me:
1. When you do something wonderful
2. If you have multiple warnings
3. If you receive a detention
4. If you are missing assignments
End of the day procedures:
1. Make sure your agenda is complete and is signed by the teacher.
2. Put all your supplies and books neatly back in your desk.
3. Pick up trash and scraps from the floor.
4. Check your binder to ensure you have all materials you need to complete homework.
5. Load your backpack
6. Place your chair on top of the desk.
7. Line up at the door when your number is called.
8. You may leave once you are dismissed by the teacher.
If there is an announcement over the PA system:
1. You will stop what you are doing.
2. Quiet your voice
3. Listen to the announcement
Passing out assignments or handouts:
1. Papers will be passed from a North to South direction.
2. The person sitting at the North end will take a paper and pass it to his or her right.
3. Please pass paper to your neighbor quickly and quietly.
Use your best manners in the classroom:
1. Use “please” and “thank you”
